LAMPROTERA MEGES
This collection originally was inspired by the dragon tail butterfly (Lamproptera Meges), a butterfly that lives in Southeast Asia. What is so beautiful about this particular butterfly is that when the butterfly flutters its wings, the tails look like silk moving in the wind. My intentions for this collection was to create clothes that emulated the freedoms that this butterfly seems to possess. To come up with ideas for silhouettes I used a technique where making little fabric collages translate into full garments. I thought that by using fabrics as my main source of inspiration I could generate something like the freedom and fluidity seen in the butterfly’s tale. I also wanted to break away from the symmetrical form of the butterfly and experiment with asymmetrical silhouettes.
